The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed a strike on the Energiya plant in Yelets, Lipetsk Oblast, late on October 25 or in the early hours of October 26. Officials stated that a fire broke out on the premises. They said the attack complicates the Russian army's ability to manufacture power sources for missiles, guided aerial bombs, and other armaments.
The plant is the sole manufacturer of power batteries for the glide and correction modules used in aerial bombs. It also produces batteries for Iskander-M operational-tactical missile systems and sea-launched cruise missiles. OSINT analysts reported the initial attack on October 25 and suggested Storm Shadow cruise missiles were likely used.
This strike is part of a recent series of attacks on Russian industrial sites. On October 23, Ukrainian forces hit the Proton-Electrotex company in Oryol, Oryol Oblast. The General Staff reported that the main microchip production workshop was destroyed. They added that the building and servers at the site were damaged. This disruption affects the production of components for cruise and ballistic missiles.
Also on October 23, a drone storage, preparation, and launch site near Donetsk was struck. Damage was confirmed to three buildings used for the preparation and fitting of strike UAVs. One launch rail was also damaged in that attack.
On October 24, forces targeted the Tolyattikauchuk plant in Tolyatti, Samara Oblast. A process pipeline, two butyl rubber production units, and one fractionation column were damaged. The General Staff noted that this strikes the supply chain for solid rocket propellant used in tactical and ballistic missiles. Background information indicates that strikes on the Tolyattikauchuk plant and Proton-Electrotex occurred on October 23 and the night of October 23-24.
The confirmed strike on Yelets follows these earlier engagements. The General Staff attributed the Yelets attack to operations conducted on October 25 or the early hours of October 26. The facility's role in producing specific battery modules for aerial bombs makes it a unique target in the Russian defense supply chain. No other dates or locations were specified for the Yelets operation beyond the initial strike window.
