The 25th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk concluded at Camden Yards on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
The event marks the 25th year of the walk in the region. It is the largest breast cancer fundraising and awareness gathering in the area. This year’s edition was designated as a special silver event.
American Cancer Society (ACS) organizers managed the day. More than 4,000 people gathered in Lots B and C of the stadium complex. The group included hundreds of survivors, patients currently undergoing treatment, family members, and local business delegations. Participants completed a non-competitive course to increase visibility for the disease.
The ACS stated that funds collected during the walk will support scientific research for new treatments. The money will also maintain free assistance programs for patients. These services include free lodging at guest houses for individuals traveling long distances for chemotherapy or radiation. The program also covers free transportation to medical centers to ensure treatment continuity. A 24/7 support line provides phone assistance and information in Spanish year-round.
The Baltimore walk was part of a statewide mobilization. Similar walks took place in Ocean City on the same Saturday. Another walk occurred in Mount Airy the previous weekend. These events establish October as the central month for community mobilization against breast cancer in Maryland.
