33.8 million viewers watched the Fox broadcast of the Eagles and Chiefs game in September 2025, a figure that marked the highest rating for a regular-season Sunday NFL match on that network. The surge in audience, attributed to the visible attendance of singer Taylor Swift, coincided with the Eagles defeating the Chiefs.
The singer, who is now married to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, has a long history with the Philadelphia area. In 2002, a 12-year-old Swift performed the national anthem before a Sixers game, a moment she later described as one of her early professional breaks. The Sixers lost that game. She returned to the region in 2008 to sing the anthem at Citizens Bank Park for Game 3 of the World Series, a contest the Phillies won on their way to the series title.
Financial data from her recent performances in the city illustrates the growth of her market. Three shows at the Lincoln Financial Field generated an estimated $38.7 million in ticket sales. Despite high demand, secondary market prices on StubHub listed nosebleed section seats for $1,500. Swift and Kelce also donated $1 million to a Berks County food bank prior to their wedding in July. An additional, undisclosed amount was given to Philabundance during her 2023 appearance.
Her connection to the region dates back to her teenage years. Her mother, Andrea, drove 46.3 miles to the King of Prussia Mall to support Swift's social life during her teen years. The singer first performed a headlining show in Philadelphia on August 1, 2009, at the Spectrum, which was nearing the end of its operational life.
Early ticket prices were considerably lower. In 2007, admission to see Swift open for Brad Paisley on the Camden Waterfront cost $25. Last year, a local cafe sold a Taylor-themed cold-brew coffee for $10 to coincide with the release of her latest album. The drink included glitter cold foam, pistachio dust, and orange sprinkles.
Swift's age has also changed since her last interview with the local press. She was 18 when she last spoke with the magazine. She is now 36. Her presence at Super Bowl LIX drew attention when the pro-Eagles crowd booed her image on the stadium screen during the first quarter, though her team won the game.
