Alan Dysert, the actor recognized for his role as Sean Cudahy on the ABC soap opera All My Children, has died. His wife, Michelle Dysert, confirmed the news in a Facebook post on Friday. She stated that she was sharing the news of his passing with her heart broken. Dysert was 75 years old.

Michelle Dysert described her husband as her partner and best friend in the post. She noted that while she is struggling to imagine life without him, she feels grateful for the love they shared. She characterized his life as extraordinary and filled with remarkable experiences and people. She said he approached life with determination, humor, and gratitude.

The cause of death was not immediately clear in the statement. Michelle Dysert mentioned that her husband faced more than his share of health challenges over the years without providing specific details. Dysert had previously written about his battle with cancer in a 2023 memoir titled Lights, Camera, Cancer. He continued to fight for the life he loved, according to his wife.

Dysert played the conman character Sean Cudahy on All My Children from 1980 to 1990. His appearances on the show were not consecutive. His IMDb page lists 79 episodes of his performance in that role. He also appeared in the 2006 family comedy Two Weeks alongside Sally Field. His most recent acting credit was in the civil war film The Legend of Van Dorn, which released this year.

Beyond acting, Dysert worked as a musician, writer, filmmaker, and producer. In recent years, he focused on mentoring upcoming actors and professional speakers. He helped them overcome fears of public speaking and performing. Michelle Dysert wrote that thousands knew him as a teacher and mentor who encouraged them to believe in themselves. She highlighted his incredible gift for storytelling and his adventurous spirit.

In his memoir, Dysert expressed a wish for his family to celebrate his life rather than mourn his passing. Michelle Dysert said he understood that life was an adventure and that tomorrow was never guaranteed. She noted that he viewed the greatest treasures as the people and experiences that made life meaningful. She added that even after many years together, life with Alan was never boring.
