The NFL confirmed on Monday that Shawn Carter, widely known as Jay-Z, will perform at the halftime show for Super Bowl LXI. The game is scheduled for Feb 14, 2026, at a stadium near Los Angeles.
Carter’s production firm, Roc Nation, has handled the halftime production since 2019. He has served as a primary selector for the acts chosen during that period. However, this will be his first time performing on the stage himself. The league did not specify if he will be the sole headliner or share the stage with guests.
The announcement followed two concerts Carter held at the Los Angeles venue last weekend. Those performances marked the 30th anniversary of his 1996 debut album, Reasonable Doubt.
“From 'Reasonable Doubt' to standing on the Super Bowl halftime stage, this has been a journey,” Carter said. “Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world's biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said he had one specific request when the league first signed with Roc Nation. “When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him,” Goodell said. He added that fans can expect “the artistry, creativity and cultural impact he will bring.”
The NFL stated in a statement that anticipation for guest stars will begin immediately. “Of course, his wife, Beyoncé, will be atop the list,” the league said. The next scheduled step involves the production team finalizing the guest list and stage design for the February event.
