Hridoy, who replaced the injured Mushfiqur Rahim, retired hurt on 42 after suffering cramps while approaching his first Test fifty. He was assisted off the field. Play was interrupted for an hour due to poor lighting before the final call.
Jomel Warrican led the West Indies attack with figures of 2-33. He stated that his team maintained control throughout the day. "Ideally, I would want one more wicket, but we have control of the game. The game never got away from us," he said. Warrican emphasized the discipline of the bowling unit, noting they aimed for at least one or two more wickets.
